DISCLAIMER

This blog is where I record a limited depiction of my feelings, family, and faith. My blog was recently under intense scrutiny, and so I feel this disclaimer is necessary. I try to tell my story as openly as I can, but this blog represents a cropped and narrow-viewed version of my story -- like all social media -- it is NOT the full story. Many events happen behind the scenes that are not recorded or written about, due to the sensitive nature of others involved. Life has many layers. Many layers can be shared and many cannot, and this blog is simply a layer of my life that I allow others to view, but it is not an accurate depiction of all the layers of my life.

Big Eyes

When I was in elementary school, I was often teased about my big "bug eyes." Of course it hurt my feelings -- no one wants to be teased for any reason. But I would shrug it off, and move on with life (though I am sure it was (and is) emotional-baggage stored somewhere in the depths of my soul). Being a young girl, I did not want anything to make me stand out in any weird way. I wanted to be just like everyone else -- normal. So, I was a little paranoid about my big eyes (to name only one body-part).

Anyhow, time passed, my head started to grow, and my eyes seemed a little more porportioned in my head. I was feeling good about myself -- and my eyes -- until just the other day. Charles (of all people), brought the "big eyes" subject to my attention again . . . . I was innocently getting ready for church, when he said that I have (and I quote): "Muppet Eyes."

"What does that mean?" I asked.

"You know," he said, "like Miss Piggy eyes."

"Ummmmm . . . is that supposed to be a good thing?" I inquired. "It does not sound like a good thing!"

"It is a really good thing!" he promised. "Your eyes are beautiful!" he wisely added.

OK? Thanks, Charles . . . now I have beautiful Miss Piggy eyesWow. Not sure how I feel about that . . . compliment

And to think I was just getting over my childhood insecurities . . .

  1. Big eyes are a family trait. Michael got them too, I have some pictures that look like his eyes are taking over his face, but he's slowing growing into them. I've always thought you've had beautiful eyes

    1. Bwahaha - I love the shopped photo! "Muppet Eyes" was an interesting description. Your real eyes don't look buggy to me; I think they are friendly-looking (not that I've ever seen you mad). ^.^

Your eyes have always been full of light and hope. You really know how to do up the eyes too.
