I try to tell my story as openly as I can, but this blog represents a cropped and narrow-viewed version of my story -- like all social media -- it is NOT the full story. Many events happen behind the scenes that are not recorded or written about, due to the sensitive nature of others involved. Life has many layers. Many layers can be shared and many cannot, and this blog is simply a layer of my life that I allow others to view, but it is not an accurate depiction of all the layers of my life.

A Trip from Idaho to Utah

We took a trip to Utah. We spent the week with my brother's family, and just enjoyed what Utah has to offer. The trip between Boise, Idaho to the Salt Lake area has got to be one of the most beautiful drives in the world. Seriously, you are missing out if you have not driven along the long stretch of road surrounded by sagebrush and open nothingness. It is worth the trip to get to the destination of fun and family. That 5 hour trip has become pretty routine for us at this point.

We spent a lot of time hanging out at my brother's home, which was nice. We played ping pong, had deep discussions, and enjoyed time as family. I went to a few movies with my brother, and my sister Mindy took us out to dinner at Thanksgiving point. We ate at the Harvest restaurant, it was totally empty, which was nice. We also went to the Museum of Natural Curiosity, also located at Thanksgiving Point. That was totally awesome. The kids loved it! We stayed there for a good part of a day. One night there was a pretty awesome storm, and we all sat on the front porch to watch it, while getting soaked as the rain blew sidewards. I love storms, they are the best.

Let's see... what else?

I was able to run my 8 miles a day, each day. At first I was running along main roads, and then I found the Jordan River trail, which was a much more pleasant place to run. I had an extra exciting run with Daniel one day, but I will write more about that later. It was hot most mornings, but there were some storms that blew in and cooled it off quite nicely. 8 miles can start to feel really long day after day, but I am getting more used to it. I will be changing that routine up a bit here soon, I need to add some strength-training to my schedule.

One of the big events on our trip was my grandma's 92nd birthday. We traveled to Heber and rode the Heber Creeper with a bunch of my relatives. It was a good time. I was so glad Nan got to go on the train! With a little help from some strong boys she was able to maneuver on and off the train. She loved it, and we all love her so much! We had a party for her after the train ride and we got to see lots of cousins.

It was a super fun trip, and the last one of the summer season. It is time to hunker down and get ready for school to start! Whew! I am super excited for the school year. I am super excited for pumpkins and the beautiful fall colors! It's coming!

Here are a few pictures from the trip... totally random order...

If you live in Utah, or visit there, you really should go check it out.

We went to church on Sunday. We picked a random ward to attend and when we got there my cousin, Nikki, came running up to us. It was so awesome! I had not seen her for years and years. My other cousin's daughter was visiting her, so I got to see her too. So fun!

My yummy treat. If I have a choice, I pick chocolate, always.
We met with some relatives we had never met before. My dad was on FamilySearch.org one day and saw some pictures that were not labeled properly. He contacted the email address provided and discovered a relative who had lots of information about our family line, the Lindquist line. We scheduled a meeting with them, and discovered lots of new things about our family. It was so great!

Here is my dad with relatives from his side of the family. So cool!
We spent the afternoon getting to know each other, and going through information trying to get things corrected, as we both had some misinformation that needed fixing. We live in amazing times, I tell you what.
