DISCLAIMER

This blog is where I record a limited depiction of my feelings, family, and faith. My blog was recently under intense scrutiny, and so I feel this disclaimer is necessary. I try to tell my story as openly as I can, but this blog represents a cropped and narrow-viewed version of my story -- like all social media -- it is NOT the full story. Many events happen behind the scenes that are not recorded or written about, due to the sensitive nature of others involved. Life has many layers. Many layers can be shared and many cannot, and this blog is simply a layer of my life that I allow others to view, but it is not an accurate depiction of all the layers of my life.

Life and Things

It has been exciting around here. It is time for another random life post. I would like to be more diligent about recording daily life, on a daily basis, but these random life posts will have to do for now. I have been using Facebook for a lot of quick updates, but I really do prefer blogging.

A few weeks ago, I took the kids to see the Captain America movie. I took Daniel and William, and then a few days later, I took Sammi. We all enjoyed it, and it was fun to just go and hangout with my children. The movie did stir-up some powerful emotions in our home, because Daniel is team Captain, and Sammi is all for Iron Man. They had some pretty entertaining conversations about which one is more fabulously awesome. I mostly just listened to their reasonings, and added some of my own opinions from time-to-time. They are pretty passionate about where they stand.

So, who is my favorite superhero? That is a good question...

I am team Frodo.
Another exciting event was taking Henry to the hospital, to have his forgotten stent removed. He handled the procedure like a champ, and I did pretty good too. It was a much smoother process than his original surgery. He was super-cooperative, and when he woke-up from the anesthesia, he was calm as could be.

He really loved playing with the toys they had available in the waiting area.
He looked so adorable in his hospital gown.
They put lip gloss on the inside of the mask to make it smell good. Henry started licking it off.
He did not cry at all, it was a miracle. Truly, I was so grateful for how peaceful the whole thing was.
We went out to support a local marathon event. It was early on a Saturday morning, and William and I headed out to a good spot, to cheer the runners on. It was so fun to be there and support those who were working so hard. I loved to see the smiles, and determination on their faces. The sign we used is really awesome, and it helps connect the runners with the cheerleaders. We first saw the idea at a marathon in Alaska. People love it. Almost everyone who ran by us reached out to, "Touch here for POWER!" It really is such a cool thing to go and cheer and uplift others.

Sammi ran with me on a full 13.1 mile run. It was a real challenge for her, but she did it! She had some aches and pains, but she managed to tough it out, and run through it. It has been fun to have her along with me during some of the training. It has really helped me, and has been fun to see her grow and become stronger. She is a tough-cookie!

I love cookies. I love to bake. I was baking cookies like crazy for about a week. It was like some cookie-monster took over, and compelled me to try a new recipe everyday.
Sammi went to her end of junior high dance. She said she had so much fun. She is now moving onto high school, and the real fun will begin!
She was happy to hang out with her friends.
I still cannot believe she is done with junior high! Yikes!
My friend, Rachelle, came over to play with our hair. She got a fancy new curling iron, and wanted to experiment with it. One of my favorite things is to have my hair brushed, so it was a real treat to have it curled for me too!

Rachelle curling Sammi's hair... Sammi's hair is really silky, and so it is harder for it to hold a curl.
 It turned out pretty though...
My hair is super thick and it tends to holds curls pretty well. I really like the way that Rachelle crafted the curls.
If only someone would do my hair for me everyday, that would be sweet. :)
I usually like to make a yummy breakfast on Saturdays. We had French Toast, made with French bread. It was very delicious.
The kids had loads of concerts and performances to finish out the school year.
Daniel is in both band and choir, and he has declared that: "Music is my life."
He got an award for being an outstanding musician.
Choir has become a passion for both Sammi and Daniel.
Sammi and Daniel were assigned to their Pioneer Trek families. It was an exciting evening of finding out who they would be pulling handcarts with.
There was a lot of energy in that room.

 Sammi's Trek Family
 Daniel's Trek Family.
The kids are assigned to a family with a "Ma and Pa" and brothers and sisters. They will travel together, and work together, throughout the entire 3 day Trek. It is a really special experience. Sammi made the observation that it was cool because she has a "dad" again.
It is now summertime, and more fun has just begun...

Good times!

  1. I had no idea that Henry was going in. I'm glad it went flawlessly. Sammi is beautiful and the curls turned out great on both heads of hair. I need to learn how to do that.
    Happy Summer!!
