DISCLAIMER

This blog is where I record a limited depiction of my feelings, family, and faith. My blog was recently under intense scrutiny, and so I feel this disclaimer is necessary. I try to tell my story as openly as I can, but this blog represents a cropped and narrow-viewed version of my story -- like all social media -- it is NOT the full story. Many events happen behind the scenes that are not recorded or written about, due to the sensitive nature of others involved. Life has many layers. Many layers can be shared and many cannot, and this blog is simply a layer of my life that I allow others to view, but it is not an accurate depiction of all the layers of my life.

Sunday

Last Sunday we got to hear an apostle speak. Elder Cook came and talked to our Stake. It was a really special experience, and very uplifting. After it was over, Daniel really wanted to go up and shake Elder Cook's hand. I wasn't sure about forcing our way through the crowd, but he insisted. What was I going to do, stop him from trying to meet an apostle of the Lord?

This is something that Charles would have done, for sure. One time we were in the same building as Elder Holland and Charles waited, and waited, until everyone cleared out, and he had a chance to shake his hand and chat with him for just a bit. Daniel was feeling the same way, he said, "Mom it's an apostle! I want to shake his hand!" And so he worked his way through the crowd to the front and made it to him. He was so happy. And it made me happy, that he was happy.

I was following close behind with Sammi, and so I thought I might as well squeeze in there, too. I had to force Sammi forward, since she is not one to force her way into anything. Our awesome Stake President was there, and he actually had Elder Cook turn around and make sure to shake our hands. Elder Cook asked us our names, and was very, very, sweet and friendly. It was nice to meet him, and he patted Henry on the head, too. I am glad we stepped out of our comfort zone, thanks to our bold Daniel who was determined, just like his daddy would have been.

Also, on Sunday, I got a LEGO trophy from William, for making an awesome dinner. He thought that pasta and Alfredo sauce was the best thing ever. I felt special for earning a reward for my cooking efforts. It is funny because if I try to cook something more fancy, or creative, the kids are not as impressed as when I make pasta and sauce.

Comfort food... it hits the spot every time

Notice the pepper on the counter. Maybe it is just me, but I require so much more pepper on my food as I get older. Pretty soon I'll have more pepper than food on my plate. Also, I started thinking... we refer to people who are friendly, good-natured, and easy to get along with as, "the salt of the earth." My question is: Who is the pepper of the earth? Just wondering....

Also, notice the hairband on the counter. That was there because I took it out of my hair, so I would look less frumpy for the picture. You're welcome. ;)

We went for a Sunday night walk. It was raining most of the day, and then in the evening, the sun came out and it was beautiful. It was still very wet outside, but it was so worth it to get out there.
Spring is starting to really burst forth. This makes me SO HAPPY!
The night was so freshly perfect, with the smell of rain hanging in the air. There is something truly magical about sun right after rain.
I kept freaking out about the flowers.

I stopped to take a picture of flowers, and then I looked in front of me at my children. I felt such an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for them. I just love them so much. They are everything to me.
I could not get enough of everything around us... the water, the sun, the flowers... oh my!
This is one of my favorite spots... it is postcard perfect.
The only downside of the walk was this... a muddy puppy. She was so gross by the end of it. I mean, nasty! Yes, she went straight into the bath when we got home.
The sunset was a beautiful way to end the day.

We ended at a park and the kids got to swing for a bit before we went home.
 I love Sundays.
