DISCLAIMER

This blog is where I record a limited depiction of my feelings, family, and faith. My blog was recently under intense scrutiny, and so I feel this disclaimer is necessary. I try to tell my story as openly as I can, but this blog represents a cropped and narrow-viewed version of my story -- like all social media -- it is NOT the full story. Many events happen behind the scenes that are not recorded or written about, due to the sensitive nature of others involved. Life has many layers. Many layers can be shared and many cannot, and this blog is simply a layer of my life that I allow others to view, but it is not an accurate depiction of all the layers of my life.

Creating Christmas

I love Christmas. I mean, I love it... a lot. One of the things I love the most about the Christmas season is being creative. It is a time to make things beautiful, warm, cozy, and fun for everyone; especially the children. We go all out for Christmas at our house. I cannot help it, it is tradition passed down for many generations. It is tradition that my grandma (who is 93) still continues to this day. If you visit her home, it is covered from top to bottom with Christmas gathered over the years. It is magic.

I love magic.

My parents are in town, and we decided to do a few fun crafts with the kiddos. There really is something special about gathering around the kitchen table, and spending quality time together. It does not have to be a Pinterest-perfect craft to be fun for the family.

We have already set up Christmas at our home. It is tradition to have it prepared before Thanksgiving. I know it seems crazy to some; but for me, it is how I grew up. I love enjoying the magical feeling for more than just a month. The month of December is always so full of hustle and bustle, I like to have it set up to enjoy, for all of the other festivities that take place.

I have inherited a lot of my Christmas decor from my parents. They have given up all of their belongings, to serve missions for the Church. They just finished serving in the Alaska temple, and now they are preparing to go to Boston come March 2017. They just got rid of all of their worldly possessions, and only have a few boxes to store, or take with them. They plan to just start over again when they return from Boston. (I hope to visit them while they are there!)

We enjoyed spending time together gathered around the table painting, and getting glitter everywhere. I got a little glitter-happy. But it was worth it to make things sparkle. I love it when the world sparkles in December. (And in November at my house.)
William really loves to create things.
The kitchen table is where so much of life really happens.
I love my home, and I am so grateful for it, and the people who live here with me.

 Painting is very therapeutic.

I love to see what the children come up with.
 Sammi showing her creation.
And here is where I get glitter-happy.

Cookies to help spark the creativity.
Henry had his own little craft to color.

I got my mom a tree to decorate for Christmas, since she wasn't able to do one of her own. I will show the finished product later, she used her mom's handmade decorations to create it. It turned out beautifully...
