DISCLAIMER

This blog is where I record a limited depiction of my feelings, family, and faith. My blog was recently under intense scrutiny, and so I feel this disclaimer is necessary. I try to tell my story as openly as I can, but this blog represents a cropped and narrow-viewed version of my story -- like all social media -- it is NOT the full story. Many events happen behind the scenes that are not recorded or written about, due to the sensitive nature of others involved. Life has many layers. Many layers can be shared and many cannot, and this blog is simply a layer of my life that I allow others to view, but it is not an accurate depiction of all the layers of my life.

The Glory of the Human Eye.

I am amazed at how beautiful the human eye can be. Just consider the variety of color, and patterns, and fine detail. It is said that the eye is the, "Window to the Soul". So much emotion is expressed through the eye: gladness, fear, angry, sadness. It is hard to fake emotion with your eyes. They seem powerfully connected to your spirit. A window into the soul . . . that seems about right.

Eyes are the first thing I notice about a person. I may not notice the color, or the details -- but I do notice the light, or the darkness. (And I am not talking about brown or blue!) I notice whether someone has inviting and friendly eyes -- or if their eyes are hard and cold.

The Bible says this: The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine aeye bebsingle, thy whole body shall be full of clight

What a beautiful thought that is! We have all seen or been with people who "shine" with a bright countenance (and I am not talking about from hair-highlights!). That "shine" comes from having eyes focused on God -- the source of all light. It is as if a bit of godliness is shining through for others to see. Perhaps their Spirit is just so bright it is trying to burst through the layer of the physical body, causing a "glow" around them. I have seen it. Have you?

The light of the body is the eye . . . what does that mean to you

Just look at these glorious "Windows to the Soul"  . . .

Thanks for letting me borrow your eyes! :-)

  1. I love the picture of Williams eye at the top. I love how photoshop can bring all the colors out.

  2. I can 'see' the light in this post.
It was fun to look at all the different eyes. I was hoping I would be able to identify my own children, so I'm glad you posted their two eyes instead of just one.
I knew right away they were my little one's.

I am grateful for the eyes of wonder our family has been born with. We watched Rise of the Guardians on Thanksgiving and Mom leaned over after Santa shared what his 'center' was and she said that's why our family has such big eyes. I agreed.

To me, "The light of the body is the eye" means, being focused on Jesus Christ. Looking to Him for direction. When we choose to always remember Him, His image will be in our countenance. The light of Christ will be seen in our eyes. Everything we feel can be expressed in our eyes. If our body or heart is hurting, our eyes will show the pain. If we are feeling joyful in our heart, our eyes will sparkle.
I have more thoughts, but seeing that it is past 11 pm and my eyes desire to close for the day, I will ponder and post another day when my eyes are opened again.

until then, may we all try to make our eyes smile more.

    Kary
