DISCLAIMER

This blog is where I record a limited depiction of my feelings, family, and faith. My blog was recently under intense scrutiny, and so I feel this disclaimer is necessary. I try to tell my story as openly as I can, but this blog represents a cropped and narrow-viewed version of my story -- like all social media -- it is NOT the full story. Many events happen behind the scenes that are not recorded or written about, due to the sensitive nature of others involved. Life has many layers. Many layers can be shared and many cannot, and this blog is simply a layer of my life that I allow others to view, but it is not an accurate depiction of all the layers of my life.

Beauty in the Darkness

January is not my favorite month. It is so dark, and right now we are suffering from a nasty inversion -- so everything is shadowed by the color gray. It can be kind of disheartening, and depressing. I have spoken with a bunch of people that feel the same way about this darkness that has fallen on our city. The consensus is we are all ready to move onto the glories and wonders of Springtime. I can hardly wait!

Today in Gospel Doctrine class I taught a lesson on the Creation of the Earth. Part of the lesson was about how we should be more diligent in looking around us, and appreciating the beautiful things that God has created for us. It may seem a little more difficult to find beautiful things in the depths of a snowless, gray, winter day -- but beauty is still there, in the simple things. Sometimes we just have to look closely.

So, I stepped outside with my camera today, and I was determined to find SOMETHING beautiful to take a picture of. It only took a few moments for me to see that there is beauty all around, sometimes you just have to focus on it.

God is a masterful Creator. I find some of His most beautiful creations are small and simple things.

I love to capture and create my view of His creations. It brings me great joy.

If you are feeling a little down during these nasty winter days go CREATE something. There is great joy in creation. Go find something you can capture, cook, paint, color, draw, sew, fix, restore, etc. It will make you feel better!

Happy Creating!
