DISCLAIMER

This blog is where I record a limited depiction of my feelings, family, and faith. My blog was recently under intense scrutiny, and so I feel this disclaimer is necessary. I try to tell my story as openly as I can, but this blog represents a cropped and narrow-viewed version of my story -- like all social media -- it is NOT the full story. Many events happen behind the scenes that are not recorded or written about, due to the sensitive nature of others involved. Life has many layers. Many layers can be shared and many cannot, and this blog is simply a layer of my life that I allow others to view, but it is not an accurate depiction of all the layers of my life.

Let's Go to the Movies

I took the older kids to see Jurassic World. I was a little nervous to go, because the first Jurassic Park was such an intense movie experience for me as a teenager. I think Jurassic Park might rank up there as the most intense movie theater experience I have ever had, but it was also so good. I mean, dinosaurs, they are just so awesome!

I had pretty high expectations going into this movie, and I was hoping not to be disappointed. I had heard mixed reviews. I kept an open mind though, because sometimes I like what others do not.

I had to remind the children that if it wasn't for Jurassic Park, they might not exist. Charles and I shared our very first kiss in my parent's basement, while watching the T-Rex go to town. We had waited a few months before kissing at all, we wanted to be friends first before losing ourselves in the physical stuff. But there was just something about those dinosaurs, they brought out the animal in Charles!

I must say, it was an awful first kiss. Charles would readily agree. It was far from romantic, and far from feeling fireworks. We had to go upstairs into the light and try kissing again a "few" times, but eventually we got it down; practice makes perfect, as they say. Good thing we figured out how to kiss each other, the future of our children depended on us getting it right.

A special thanks to Jurassic Park for giving Charles the courage to kiss me.

It was so fun to just take the older kids to have special movie time together. They were so excited, and I was excited to have time with my teenagers! We had a great time, and I actually really enjoyed the movie. I thought it was good, surprisingly good. I found myself a little tense a few times, but for the most part I was really into it, and it was just fun. I did have a hard time sleeping for a few nights, as the dinosaurs chased me in my dreams, but I would go and see it again.

Good times.
