DISCLAIMER

This blog is where I record a limited depiction of my feelings, family, and faith. My blog was recently under intense scrutiny, and so I feel this disclaimer is necessary. I try to tell my story as openly as I can, but this blog represents a cropped and narrow-viewed version of my story -- like all social media -- it is NOT the full story. Many events happen behind the scenes that are not recorded or written about, due to the sensitive nature of others involved. Life has many layers. Many layers can be shared and many cannot, and this blog is simply a layer of my life that I allow others to view, but it is not an accurate depiction of all the layers of my life.

Henry Update

I had to take Henry to the ER on Sunday. He had been running a fever of 103 for more than a day, and all of his symptoms pointed towards a UTI, like the one he had over a year ago.

Henry was born with some of his internal plumbing out of order. He has extra compartments in his kidneys, and extra tubing as well. A little more than a year ago, he had surgery to reconstruct what was all wonky on his insides. The surgery went super, and things were looking good, and Henry has been doing awesome for this last year -- no signs of troubles at all.

I knew that what was going on with Henry was more than just a flu or other sickness, and I knew he needed help to heal. It was Saturday night/Sunday in the middle of the night, that he really started burning up, and I was eager to get him to the hospital. I did not want to leave in the night, and leave my other children home alone. It was about 3:00am. Sure, I could have called friends, and I would have if I thought it was life-threatening. I gave him some Tylenol, he was able to sleep, and we held out until about 6:30am and rushed off to the ER.

While in the ER, they pumped him full of antibiotics, and he has been taking medicine daily since then. The first few days following, he was still spiking a really high fever, and he was acting really tired. I went to our family doctor and found out that was quite normal, as the infection was running its course and the antibiotics fought against it. It concerned me because his fever actually went higher to over 104.

As of today, Henry is doing much better. He still sleeps a little extra in the morning, and so do I, because we had some nights of zero sleep. He is playing and acting normal, and all is well with him. At least it sure seems that way. We will find out more on his internal issues, but externally he is doing so much better.

We have a follow-up appointment with his urologist next week, to see what might have been the cause of the UTI. He has a scheduled ultrasound in a few weeks to see how things are looking on his insides. The surgery was meant to make it so he would be fine into the future. Hopefully things are all in order as they should be. We will find out soon.

Life is never boring. That is for sure.

  1. Masaru had an ultrasound appointment as well right at the end of May to see if his insides are doing ok lol
Mari I hope you know you can call on us as well. I make a mean sugar free dinner and am good at cleaning bathrooms and entertaining kids. They're more than welcome to come over here and play kickball in our backyard. My kids have been asking us to have them over to play that again anyway!!! I hope this leads to nothing. It'd be a bummer if something was wrong. I know that hospital so well now :/
