DISCLAIMER

This blog is where I record a limited depiction of my feelings, family, and faith. My blog was recently under intense scrutiny, and so I feel this disclaimer is necessary. I try to tell my story as openly as I can, but this blog represents a cropped and narrow-viewed version of my story -- like all social media -- it is NOT the full story. Many events happen behind the scenes that are not recorded or written about, due to the sensitive nature of others involved. Life has many layers. Many layers can be shared and many cannot, and this blog is simply a layer of my life that I allow others to view, but it is not an accurate depiction of all the layers of my life.

Henry's Kidneys

Henry had another UTI. He got it a few days before we were to leave on our Arizona/California trip. He started vomiting, and he spiked a fever of 103. At first I was worried it was a bug that was going to rip through our family and postpone our trip. It only took a day to see that Henry's "sickness" was all too familiar, and looked very much like the previous Urinary infections he's had before. (Henry is prone to infection; he was born with his kidney-plumbing a little off.)

What was weird is he went into the hospital that morning for a routine ultrasound on his kidneys, and that night he came down with the infection. It had been about 6 months since his last one. He has had a total of 3 UTI's. He has had surgery to try and help prevent infection.

After watching his symptoms for a while, I decided we better go to the ER to remedy his infection. I went in and told the staff in the ER what I thought it was, but the doctor thought maybe he had an ear infection or something, because his ear was a little red. I was pretty darn sure he had a UTI, and I kept repeating myself, and sure enough... the test came back positive.

They pumped him full of fluids and antibiotics, and they sent us home with a prescription. He slowly got better, but he was pretty out of it for a few days. We had to delay or trip just a day to allow him time to heal.

What is weird is right before we went on our Thanksgiving trip last year, we went to the ER with William, who had a leg infection. See that post: HERE.

Sometimes life is just strange?

Henry was a champ the whole time. He knows the hospital routine.
He was so out of it, poor little guy.
He is doing much better now.
Life is never dull.
