DISCLAIMER

This blog is where I record a limited depiction of my feelings, family, and faith. My blog was recently under intense scrutiny, and so I feel this disclaimer is necessary. I try to tell my story as openly as I can, but this blog represents a cropped and narrow-viewed version of my story -- like all social media -- it is NOT the full story. Many events happen behind the scenes that are not recorded or written about, due to the sensitive nature of others involved. Life has many layers. Many layers can be shared and many cannot, and this blog is simply a layer of my life that I allow others to view, but it is not an accurate depiction of all the layers of my life.

My Magnificent Mother... A Post by Sammi

"All that I am, or hope to be, I owe to my angel mother".
My whole heart agrees with what President Lincoln expresses. Mothers are angels and my mother has made me the person that I am today. There is nothing that can quite compare to the special love a daughter can have for her mother. A mother is a girl's first best friend. She can give the best advice because she knows you far better than you know yourself. Nothing escapes the worried and careful eyes of a mother. They hold not only their children's best interests and trust, but also their hands when life gets rough.

From the moment I first opened my eyes to now, as I sit thinking about my glorious mother, my heart is filled with the love that I have for her. She is incredible. Her courage and strength amaze and astonish me. I lost my dad, but she has been completely separated from her eternal companion. I have no idea how that feels, but I have seen my mother remain strong and true. Through the seemingly darkest of nights or longest of days, she has never wavered, never lost hope. She has found her courage to continue and she has found joy and light in enduring to the end. She is the most amazing example of strength that I have ever seen.

My mother is also extremely talented. Her voice is like an angel's and is permanently imprinted in my memory from the lullaby's she used to sing. But although my mom is good at music, she also possesses a great eye for photography and a natural and beautiful gift of writing. Her ability to work with people also inspires me. She has a way of piercing hearts when she bears her testimony or even presents a fireside of lesson. She has a way with people. She knows them, and can reach them.

So, on this Mother's Day, as life only seems to become more filled and a peaceful moment harder to find, with concerts, marathons, a Henry, school, scouts, choir, and with time slipping through our fingers faster than it feels it should...I want to let you know that you are amazing, Mom. You are an example to everyone around you. Everyone has their role models; friends, celebrities, figures of the past; but mine is you. If, in my life, I can turn out to be half as strong and half as beautiful (inside and out) as you are, I will count myself lucky. You are incredible. I love you and Daddy loves you. He wishes that he were here to wrap his arms around you and tell you how beautiful and wonderful you are, but he will one day, and he's excited for that day to come.

I love you Mom
