DISCLAIMER

This blog is where I record a limited depiction of my feelings, family, and faith. My blog was recently under intense scrutiny, and so I feel this disclaimer is necessary. I try to tell my story as openly as I can, but this blog represents a cropped and narrow-viewed version of my story -- like all social media -- it is NOT the full story. Many events happen behind the scenes that are not recorded or written about, due to the sensitive nature of others involved. Life has many layers. Many layers can be shared and many cannot, and this blog is simply a layer of my life that I allow others to view, but it is not an accurate depiction of all the layers of my life.

Young Women in Excellence

Sammi had her first Young Women in Excellence night. It was really fun to be there with all the girls. It was really special to see that the Beehives from when I was with the Young Women, are now the graduating Laurels! CRAZY! That time went by so fast, too fast -- and sooner than I can grasp, that will be Sammi standing up there as a Laurel! (16-18 years old.) SCARY!!!!

It was really interesting to listen to the girls, and their life goals and accomplishments. So many of them talked about how people are so focused on Math and Science, and how they are "encouraged" to focus on those subjects so that they can get a good paying job -- but so many of the girls don't like Math or Science! A bunch of the girls expressed interest in the Arts, and creativity.

It made me think... as I listened to them as young girls full of potential with their unwritten futures, I hoped for them to become what they want to be, that they can do what they love to do -- not be forced into something they would hate.

I believe that people should follow their dreams. I believe that people should use their God-given talents and abilities to make the world a better place.

I also think that if you study, focus, and become the best at whatever it is you love -- you can be successful in life. You have to want it bad enough, and you have to do what it takes -- but you CAN get where you want to be. Anything is possible!

If it is Math or Science, Music or Art -- study it, love it, share it, OWN IT!!!

It was invigorating to be with the girls and their dreams. They also talked about how we should share our talents, and if we do not, then God can take them away from us. It does not matter how big or how small your talent is, or even what it is -- SHARE IT!!!! However you can... you can bless the lives of those around you, and you may feel a bit blessed yourself!

Maybe you don't know what you are good at? Explore! Try new things! You never know what you can do until you try! You are never too young -- or too old -- to find things that you are good at, and that you might possibly love!

Go dig-up a buried talent today! And SHARE IT!!!

  2. I agree about success being within reach if we work hard at what we love, but some people might mistake success for wealth. Wealth does not always follow, I believe. But that's okay!

    1. Ditto! "Success" is not in wealth, but in HAPPINESS! ;-)
