DISCLAIMER

This blog is where I record a limited depiction of my feelings, family, and faith. My blog was recently under intense scrutiny, and so I feel this disclaimer is necessary. I try to tell my story as openly as I can, but this blog represents a cropped and narrow-viewed version of my story -- like all social media -- it is NOT the full story. Many events happen behind the scenes that are not recorded or written about, due to the sensitive nature of others involved. Life has many layers. Many layers can be shared and many cannot, and this blog is simply a layer of my life that I allow others to view, but it is not an accurate depiction of all the layers of my life.

There's An App for That!

I am always behind on Technology. I usually catch-on to what is new, and fresh, about 5-10 years late. Despite my lack of savvy in the world of gadgets and gigabytes, I do love all the modern advances that we get to enjoy.

I can remember the first time I ever used the Internet. I was a teenager. I was sitting in my parent's house in Alaska, and I typed my very first email to my friend Melinda, who lived in Arizona. She responded quickly, and I knew my life would never be the same.

Now, all these years later, the Internet is a major part of my life. Whether it is blogging, on-line bill pay, running a business, family history, www.lds.org, email, texting, recipes, News, scriptures, report cards, Googling everything, etc., it has worked its way into the the very fiber of my life.

The technology we have now is like living in a Star Trek episode. We simply have to brush our fingers across a screen and miracles happen.

Warp speed ahead!

How strange to think of the effect technology has had on my life. It seems so natural now. But it is really such a miraculous thing!

It is amazing the tremendous advances I have lived through. I marvel at the big things, like the rapid advance in Family History work, and the capacity for record keeping. And the small things, like taking my music list in my pocket wherever I go.

It is all amazing.

I have also come to find that there is an App for everything. We recently lost our Apple TV remote (a small little sliver of a device), and I googled how to order a new one. As I searched on-line I found that there was an App for that! We can control our TV from our iPods, iPhones, etc. How crazy is that?

CRAZY!!!!

I just wanted to give a shout-out to technology today.

What a tremendous and glorious miracle!

  1. It's funny that you'd label yourself behind in technology and have a picture of your remote app on your smart phone with your apple/smart tv in the background. lol Those things aren't exactly behind the times. If your behind then I am definitely in the stone age. ;) As much as I don't like how time consuming technology can become it definitely has it's advantages/blessings like you've mentioned though.

    1. I have a very techno-savvy family that keeps me updated, otherwise I would be clueless. My dad and brothers eat technology for breakfast. I just got a cell phone a few years ago after much prodding. Without their help and encouragement towards the latest techno-stuff I would be in the dark! When I say I am behind on technology I suppose I have my family in mind. I try to keep up with things but as soon as something is new it is outdated the next day! It was just a few years ago I had tape holding the buttons on our tv and make-shift bunny ears to get basic channels. I must say smart tv and apple tv are crazy awesome. We have access to Downton Abbey anytime of day! :-)

  2. There's a couple of new shows (TV series) on your Apple TV that Sammi (and anyone else) might like: Atlantis and House of Anubis. Let me know if she likes "House of Anubis" before I order any more. -- Dad
