DISCLAIMER

This blog is where I record a limited depiction of my feelings, family, and faith. My blog was recently under intense scrutiny, and so I feel this disclaimer is necessary. I try to tell my story as openly as I can, but this blog represents a cropped and narrow-viewed version of my story -- like all social media -- it is NOT the full story. Many events happen behind the scenes that are not recorded or written about, due to the sensitive nature of others involved. Life has many layers. Many layers can be shared and many cannot, and this blog is simply a layer of my life that I allow others to view, but it is not an accurate depiction of all the layers of my life.

First Day of School

Hooray! We are all super excited for school around her.  My kids LOVE school. I love it, too, because I enjoy a bit of order to life, and most of all, I love Autumn time! Today the air is cool, and crisp, and it feels wonderful.

We woke-up at the crack of dawn, and everyone was ready way too early. This year we have an 8th grader, a 6th grader, and a 2nd grader. Fun times! Speaking of time, where has it gone? Did I not just give birth to these babies? Yikes!

After I dropped the kids off at junior high (Dan has a Math class there), I came home with William, and we had to wait for awhile before we could walk to the school. While we were waiting, I turned on the "Happy" song, and I danced for William. He was cracking-up. I should have recorded it, because you would crack-up too. Nothing better than jiggling your body around first thing in the morning! I think I am going to play the Happy song every morning.

Everyone made it to where they needed to go, and there were no tears shed.

The only time I felt a bit emotional was when Daniel jumped out of the van and took off into the junior high. I thought I still had a year until that would happen. It just made my heart flutter a little, as I watched him go so eagerly into the big, new, world. That kid has no fear. He reminds me of someone I know, and it is not me!

Sammi was beyond excited for school, she adores it. She loves the homework and everything. She is particularly excited about choir. She was so ready for school to start. Hermione is back where she belongs.

William was so pumped to go back. He has a teacher that both Sammi and Daniel had, and loved. William loves friends. In his father's blessing he was told to be a good example to his friends. I sure hope he remembers!

I am enjoying the peace and quiet, and the ability to write a blog post in the morning, rather than at night! I love having just Henry during the day. It will be so good for him to have some one-on-one time with mommy. He is a ball of energy. He is full of life and fire. He is sleeping right now, that is why I am able to write!

I went for a run this morning, and it was great. The air was pleasant and cool. The only downside to the school year is running with the stroller again. But, I am used to it. It was nice to have 2 free hands over the summer though, thanks to Sammi and the bike-puller. I have pushed a stroller for 13 years though, so I am accustomed to the extra effort. It only makes me stronger, right?

Well, I am off now to enjoy the quietness of the morning. I have my Nat King Cole station on, and I am ready to bask in the glory of the day!

Happy School Year!

  2. Exciting, exciting! I just saw something on a morning show today about a morning playlist for your kids to give them cues as they get ready for school. Cues like...Time to get up, time to eat, time to head out the door. One of the songs they mentioned was the song "Happy"...a favorite in our house too. I thought that was a great idea. Whatever starts they day out on a positive note. :) All the kids look great by the way. We saw Daniel in Matt's class and he was all smiles. He seems to be at home where ever he is. I love that about him. You and Sammi look beautiful!
