DISCLAIMER

This blog is where I record a limited depiction of my feelings, family, and faith. My blog was recently under intense scrutiny, and so I feel this disclaimer is necessary. I try to tell my story as openly as I can, but this blog represents a cropped and narrow-viewed version of my story -- like all social media -- it is NOT the full story. Many events happen behind the scenes that are not recorded or written about, due to the sensitive nature of others involved. Life has many layers. Many layers can be shared and many cannot, and this blog is simply a layer of my life that I allow others to view, but it is not an accurate depiction of all the layers of my life.

San Francisco

We made it to San Francisco in the evening. We traveled from the redwoods and made our way into the city. San Francisco is beautifully situated by the ocean. It is a very unique and interesting place. I'm not sure I would want to live there, but it is sure fun to visit.

We made our way across the Golden Gate bridge. It is always a sight to behold. I remember the first time we drove through San Francisco Charles was super excited about going across the bridge and on the trolleys.
 The bridge is pretty amazing.
I was trying to get some shots while the car was moving...

We crossed the bridge and made it into the city. Our destination was Fisherman's Wharf and Ghirardelli Square.
I thought these little touring cars were cute and funny.
We found a parking garage, and made our way to the square. It was all decorated for Christmas, and very magical.
The temperature was perfect, and it was a very pleasant evening.

I just think it is a fun place to visit.

This guy was playing songs on his instrument that were some of Charles' favorite. They were songs that Charles would play on his guitar. The kids were the ones who noticed and pointed it out, and thought it was an amazing "coincidence." One was the Zorro song (that's what Charles called it), and the other was Pachelbel's Canon. It added to the magic of the night.

We had to walk through and get our free chocolate handout. :)
 Can you smell the chocolate?
 Wow.
Yum, yum, yum. These are some of my favorite!
 How they make the chocolate...
There was a big beautiful tree, and Henry was amazed by it. "I found Christmas!" he shouted.

Just a view from the square...

 I love the brick.
There were lots of people playing music on the streets. It added to the fun.
 The sun starting to set.
The boys wanted to play by the beach. It was so calm and peaceful.
There were some awesome boats in the harbor.

William got a little too close to the water.
The trolley! We were waiting until dark to get on -- it is the BEST time to ride!
My parents taking in the view and enjoying a break.

Me and Sammi. Photo by my mom.
The rest of the pictures were taken on my mom's iPhone...
Waiting in line for the trolley. Henry was not loving the line, and waiting. He was tired.
 Here comes our ride!
 The streets of San Francisco...
This is how Henry felt about the ride... he is sucking his thumb.
The trolley is a bit of a thrill ride. I was surprised the first time we went on it at how fun it was. It goes up and down the hills, and you see such beautiful scenes of the city. The kids got to stand and hang off the side, so they were happy.
All done, and ready to go back to the car and find our hotel.
This is how we traveled. Lots of quality family time, for sure. :-)

I did not leave my heart in San Francisco. My heart -- my love -- travels with me wherever I go. :)

I love that you found Charles' journal for your anniversary. What a treasured gift. I love seeing the constant tender mercies the Lord is providing for you and your family. I honestly do stand all amazed at the love Jesus offers you. I'm so grateful His love is available to all of us as we choose to come unto Him.
